Your Morning Motivation

This section will be a thought to help you set yourself up for a more purposeful day. It can be a very simple thing to add a bit of focused intention to your day.

How to use this section:

  • Pick one thing to focus on today. I’ll make a suggestion below, but it can be whatever is right for you.
  • Write it down somewhere you’ll see it several times a day. Bonus if you add in why you chose it and how it will make a change in your day/life.
  • Set a timer on your phone, 4x today to look at your intention.
  • At the end of the day write down how it went, what did you notice, and what you might want to try tomorrow.

This month is about clearing out, letting go, and making space. Sit quietly for 5 minutes and just focus on the sensations of breathing. Ask yourself, “what could I let go of that would make me feel lighter?”

Be as honest as you can. Don’t force any thoughts. Let them come to you. If you don’t find answers, try again tomorrow. You will receive your answers. They may need to filter through your well established walls! Just relax. Accept. Breathe!

Breaking Free: 10 Questions to Unstuck Your Life

When life feels like it’s standing still, sometimes the most powerful tool isn’t a plan or a strategy, it’s the right question.

We’ve all been there. That suffocating feeling when you know something needs to change, but you can’t quite put your finger on what or how. You scroll through social media watching others seemingly thrive while you feel trapped in patterns that no longer serve you, like a character stuck in a time loop, reliving the same day until they learn the lesson that sets them free.

The good news? You’re not broken, and you’re not alone. Sometimes being stuck isn’t a problem to solve, it’s a signal that you’re ready to level up, like a video game character who’s outgrown their current realm and needs to unlock the next dimension of their journey.

Think of the questions below as your personal Oracle, not the kind that speaks in riddles, but one that cuts through illusion with laser precision. They’re designed to slice through the noise, past the excuses, and straight to the heart of what’s holding you back. Like Morpheus offering Neo the red pill, these questions will show you truths you might not be ready to see, but absolutely need to face.

Grab a journal, find a quiet space, and prepare to have an honest conversation with the person who knows you best: yourself. Consider this your hero’s journey, except instead of slaying dragons, you’re facing the harder task of confronting the stories you tell yourself about who you are and what’s possible.

1. What am I avoiding and why?

You already know what it is. That conversation you need to have, the career change you’ve been postponing, the relationship that’s run its course. Like Frodo with the One Ring, you’re carrying something that grows heavier the longer you avoid dealing with it. We avoid things because they feel risky, uncomfortable, or final. But avoidance is just fear wearing a cloaking device. Name what you’re dodging, then ask yourself: what’s the real cost of continuing to run from your personal Balrog?

2. What does staying stuck protect me from?

Here’s an uncomfortable truth: sometimes we choose familiar misery over uncertain happiness, like choosing to stay in the Matrix because at least you know the rules of that reality. Growth is terrifying because it means stepping into the unknown, into uncharted territories where your old maps don’t work. But remember, a cage might feel safe, but it’s still a cage. Even the most beautiful terrarium is a prison for a creature meant to soar. What are you protecting yourself from by staying small? Disappointment? Responsibility? The possibility that you might actually succeed and have to rewrite everything you thought you knew about yourself?

3. What identity am I scared to release?

We cling to outdated versions of ourselves like old clothes that no longer fit. Maybe you’re still trying to be the people-pleaser, the perfectionist, or the person who never takes risks. Think of it like a phoenix refusing to burn, without the death of what was, there can be no rebirth into what could be. Or like a snake that won’t shed its skin and becomes trapped in something that no longer serves its growth. Evolution requires shedding what no longer serves you. Who were you yesterday that you don’t need to be tomorrow? What avatar are you ready to retire so your true character can emerge?

4. If this past year repeated for five years, where would I end up?

This question is a time machine to your future, like Doctor Strange glimpsing the 14 million possible outcomes, except you’re looking at just one: the timeline where nothing changes. Look at your current patterns, how you spend your time, energy, and money. These aren’t random choices; they’re the algorithm that’s coding your destiny. If you were trapped in a Groundhog Day loop of the past year, would you be proud of where you’d end up? Your patterns are prophecies. Change the pattern, change the fate.

5. What would I truly want if no one could judge me?

Strip away the expectations of parents, partners, society, and even your past self. Imagine you’re the only person in your universe, like the last human on Earth, free from every social construct that ever existed. If judgment was impossible, if you could pursue your desires without commentary from any peanut gallery, what would you choose? This isn’t about being selfish; it’s about being honest. Your authentic desires are a compass pointing toward your purpose, your personal North Star in a galaxy of other people’s expectations.

6. Who am I secretly trying to prove myself to?

That parent who never seemed proud enough. The ex who said you’d never amount to anything. The colleague who got the promotion you wanted. Like carrying around a cursed object that whispers doubts in your ear, living to prove others wrong is still letting them control your story. You’re letting them be the puppet master while you dance to music they’re no longer even playing. Name them, acknowledge the power you’ve given them, then ask: is this really for me, or am I still fighting battles in wars that ended long ago?

7. What pain am I pretending isn’t there?

We’re masters at numbing, distracting, and rationalizing our wounds. But ignored pain doesn’t disappear, it becomes like a horcrux, hidden away but still poisoning everything it touches. That betrayal you’ve “gotten over,” the loss you’ve “moved on from,” the disappointment you’ve “learned from”, what hurt are you carrying in the shadows of your psyche? Like Pandora’s box, these wounds seem safer left unopened, but healing begins only when you’re brave enough to face what’s festering in the dark.

8. What would I do if I knew I could not fail?

Remove the possibility of failure from the equation, imagine you have plot armor like the protagonist of your own epic saga. Suddenly, what seems impossible becomes inevitable. This isn’t about delusion, it’s about recognizing how much fear constrains our vision, like wearing VR goggles programmed to show you only limitations. When failure isn’t an option, what becomes possible? That direction, that bold move, that leap of faith, that’s your true quest line. Start there.

9. What have I tolerated for too long?

We adapt to dysfunction so gradually that we forget what being healthy feels like, like slowly being poisoned by a cursed ring while thinking its effects are normal. The job that drains your life force, the friend who only materializes when they need something, the habit that’s slowly eroding your soul like acid rain. We become immune to our own suffering, mistaking endurance for strength. Tolerance isn’t always a virtue. What have you normalized that deserves to be called out and cut out? What toxic element in your life needs to be cleansed from your personal ecosystem?

10. What version of me needs to die so the real one can be born?

This is the most powerful question of all, your personal Ragnarok, the twilight of who you’ve been so dawn can break on who you’re becoming. Something in you knows that who you’ve been isn’t who you’re meant to become. Like a butterfly that must dissolve completely in the chrysalis before emerging transformed, what beliefs, behaviors, or identities need to be released into the void? What outdated programming needs to be deleted from your personal operating system? This isn’t destruction, it’s metamorphosis. Death and birth are part of the same cosmic cycle. To become who you’re meant to be, you must let go of who you were. The phoenix doesn’t mourn its ashes; it rises from them, reborn and radiant.

The Path Forward

These questions aren’t meant to be answered once and forgotten, they’re your personal grimoire, tools for ongoing self-examination, meant to be revisited as you level up and unlock new areas of your inner landscape. Some answers might surprise you like plot twists in your favorite series. Others might confirm what you already knew but weren’t ready to face, like finally acknowledging the obvious villain who’s been there all along.

The goal isn’t to have all the answers immediately, it’s to develop the courage to ask better questions, to become the protagonist of your own story rather than a side character in everyone else’s. Because when you’re brave enough to look honestly at where you are, you give yourself the power to choose where you’re going.

Being stuck isn’t a life sentence, it’s a choice point, a crossroads where multiple timelines converge. You’re holding the controller of your own simulation. And now you have the cheat codes to help you level up.

Ready to regenerate as your next-level self? Start with question one and see where your quest leads you.

Our Quest Travel Adventures

We continue our grand New Zealand adventure by venturing into Fiordands! I love it when we discover a great excursion deal that saves you time, wraps you in comfort, and provides fabulous service. Such was our experience in Te Anau with the RealNZ bus to the Milford Sound Cruise.

Driving to Fiordlands and Milford Sound is possible. But to drive yourself is to deny you the opportunity to gape at everything safely. It’s one road in and out, one lane most of the time. Buses, camper vans and motor homes are also jamming along this route. There are no towns on the way, and no gas stations. And most of the time you won’t know what you are looking at.  On the super comfy bus, we all had amazing views of the constantly changing epic landscape. Our driver was a font of interesting and very fun information, keeping us entertained plus educating us on this glorious part of the world.

We stopped several times for a nice stroll, photo opportunities as well as snack and bio breaks. He always stopped just when we wanted to grab a photo! During one stop, we were dive bombed by an exuberant and rare Kea, a wild mountain parrot.  Another reason to take this bus/cruise option is that there is very little parking at the Milford Sound boat dock. It’s a much smaller area than we imagined!

The bus got us there in time to look through the gift shop and take another bio break before boarding the Milford Haven, a very roomy ferry. ( And we could order nice meals on board too.)  There was plenty of space to wander around the boat to catch the views. We were well prepared for the changes in weather and I was super happy to be out in the rain in my waterproof jacket, hood and gloves. Fresh air and stunning scenery always fills my soul.  We were even happier being on our nice bus to return back to Te Anau because we were tired and that drive is 2 hours at least without stops. One way! So I could sightsee and Glenn napped a bit on our comfy, and safe, ride back to town.

The next day we left for the adventure capital of New Zealand- Queenstown!  Staying in Queenstown itself is really expensive. We stayed in Frankton, right on Lake Wakatipu very near the main Queenstown area. What a view! We also stayed in a cute BnB in Dalefield which was a great deal and came with alpacas and CUTE black faced sheep. Get creative and save some money! The views around all of New Zealand are amazing, but Queenstown is astounding. We just enjoyed our drives to and from Arrowtown, Cromwell, and Glenorchy. The signs I am sharing are from Arrowtown. If I could walk better we’d be hiking. Next time! New hip!

Two of my favorite excursions in Queenstown I just have to tell you about. When I was there by myself, I tried all kinds of excursions, mostly for my Lord of The Rings adventure retreat. I was intrigued by the Walter Peak Station evening BBQ and boat ride, because it was a piece of history. You ride out to this working sheep station by boat.

The TSS Earnslaw, built in 1921, takes you across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak Station, established in the 1800’s. It’s an experience! The trip across the lake with the stunning Remarkables on one side and the Southern Alps before you. The food is a massive buffet that’s just delicious with something for everyone no matter your diet. Then you can watch a herding dog demonstration, stroll through the grounds and see the farm animals.  It’s really an unusual, very Kiwi experience!

But my favorite perhaps is the Dart River Boat. These boats go so fast in water so shallow you can’t believe it. SOOOOO much fun. You are going by multiple Lord of the Rings shooting locations, and you can sense it all around you. Or that’s just me. But it’s spectacularly beautiful, and you are getting up into areas it would be near impossible to see any other way. It’s pricey, but worth it. I am down for unique experiences in nature.
What’s with the toilet sign, you ask? It’s from the AJ Hackett bungee jumping at Kawarau Gorge! No, I didn’t do it. That’s all my body needs! But I wanted to see it.  If you want to jump off bridges for a thrill, this is the outfit to do it with.

And one more cool thing to do is to take the Skyline cable car up to the Stratosphere restaurant, gift shop and luge. They have a really good buffet with all the options you need for every diet. They even made me gluten free pasta!  The views are incredible! You can do the luge but come early for that. Or late for stargazing. (You will need to book ahead.) The sunset/evening time is just gorgeous. You can hike up for an incredible workout! We enjoyed the ride and sightings of wild goats and sheep ambling about.

It’s hard to convey how much this area has to offer. Get into the wild and hike, or take a helicopter. It’s a memory of a lifetime.

Journal Prompt

(Each month I will give you a thought to fire up your mind. Use journaling prompts over and over again and see how the result changes.)

Try setting out a logbook near your coffee pot or on the desk or nightstand, and every day write down something you noticed that caught your imagination. Maybe some decorations at work  had you thinking of holidays past. What can you notice that gives you appreciation? When did you find yourself being fully present?

What small, steady practices do you do in your life that help bring you into balance? Real transformation comes through daily discipline, not grand gestures. What is waiting for you to finally commit to? What small change do you need to make that will lead to your desired results?
