We need to talk about Your Pattern.
Not “a pattern.” Not “patterns in general.” YOUR specific pattern.
Think of your pattern like the final boss in a video game:
You wouldn’t walk into a boss battle without knowing its strengths, right? You’d get demolished.
Your life pattern is the same. It has specific moves. Predictable loops. Signature tells.
Once you know them, you can dodge. Counter. Win.
You can’t interrupt what you can’t see. Which pattern is yours?
Here’s Your Pattern Codex – All 10 Decoded:
🔄 PATTERN #1: THE PERPETUAL OPTIMIZER
Signature Move: “I’ll be happy once I’ve improved enough”
What it costs you: The ability to celebrate anything. Ever. You accomplish something and immediately see what’s next to fix. You’re running a race with no finish line.
Tell: You just got a promotion/compliment/win and your first thought is “Okay, now I need to…”
🔒 PATTERN #2: THE COMFORTABLE PRISONER
Signature Move: “I’d love to make a change, but…”
What it costs you: Aliveness. Joy. The feeling of being truly YOU. You’ve optimized for stability and lost your spark in the process.
Tell: You hear yourself say “I can’t” when you mean “I’m scared to.”
🏆 PATTERN #3: THE ACHIEVEMENT ADDICT
Signature Move: “The next goal will finally make me happy”
What it costs you: Present moment joy. Connection. The ability to BE instead of DO. You’re chasing accomplishments like they’ll fill the void. They never do.
Tell: You feel empty within days/weeks of achieving the thing you thought would fix everything.
🌈 PATTERN #4: THE POSSIBILITY HOARDER
Signature Move: “I have so many options, I’m paralyzed”
What it costs you: Forward momentum. Actual progress. The ability to commit to ANYTHING because what if there’s something better?
Tell: You have 47 tabs open, 12 started projects, and decision paralysis about everything from dinner to your career.
👤 PATTERN #5: THE INVISIBLE HERO
Signature Move: “I’ll take care of everyone else, then me”
What it costs you: Your own needs. Your dreams. Your life. You give and give and give until there’s nothing left. And then you wonder why you’re resentful.
Tell: Someone asks you to do something and you say yes even though every cell in your body is screaming NO.
🌫️ PATTERN #6: THE DISCONNECTED DRIFTER
Signature Move: “I don’t even know what I want”
What it costs you: Agency. Direction. The feeling that your life is YOURS. You’ve been following everyone else’s script for so long, you forgot you have your own voice.
Tell: When someone asks “What do you want?” you draw a complete blank. Or you know what you SHOULD want, but it doesn’t feel like yours.
⏳ PATTERN #7: THE WAITING ROOM
Signature Move: “I’ll start when the time is right”
What it costs you: Years. Decades. Your whole life waiting for permission that’s never coming. Meanwhile, the thing you want is getting further away.
Tell: You say “Not yet” or “Soon” or “When things settle down” while knowing deep down that you’re stalling.
💣 PATTERN #8: THE SELF-SABOTEUR
Signature Move: “I get close to success, then blow it up”
What it costs you: Everything you’ve been working toward. You work hard, make progress, get close to breakthrough… and then you quit/create drama/get sick/pick a fight/miss the deadline.
Tell: There’s a predictable moment right before success where you do something that derails everything.
😶 PATTERN #9: THE RESIGNED REALIST
Signature Move: “Nothing’s going to change anyway”
What it costs you: Hope. Possibility. The willingness to try. You’ve been disappointed too many times. Now you’re just… managing. Getting through. Protecting yourself from more hurt by expecting nothing.
Tell: Someone suggests something and your immediate thought is “Yeah, right” or “That won’t work” or “I’ve tried that.”
📋 PATTERN #10: THE CONTROL SEEKER
Signature Move: “If I can just plan it perfectly…”
What it costs you: Action. Experience. Life. You research endlessly, make detailed plans, need all the information before you move. But the planning BECOMES procrastination.
Tell: You’ve been “working on” the same thing for months/years and haven’t actually DONE anything yet.
Your Assignment:
Read through that list again. Which one made you go “Ouch, that’s me”?
That’s your pattern.
Write it down.
BONUS SECTION: Your Word of Power
In every great story, the hero has a defining quality.
Luke Skywalker = Hope.
Wonder Woman = Truth.
Gandalf = Wisdom.
If people looked at a picture of you, what ONE WORD would you want next to it? It’s what you stand for, and a value you live into, best you can.
Examples: Courage, Kindness, Creativity, Strength, Joy, Truth, Wisdom, Love, Freedom, Adventure, Peace, Magic
This is your North Star. Your word of power. Like a Jedi’s connection to the Force or a wizard’s true name, this word carries your essence. (Note: This can change over time as you grow and change.)
